This workshop addresses the need of paper conservators with a basic knowledge about book structures and their typical damages to build up a basic repertoire of book conservation techniques. This will allow them to help stabilising book collections and/or to better assess damages and organise their repair.

Spring Book and Paper Conservation/Preservation Workshop Series The Georgia Archives Conservation Department together with the Big River Bindery are excited to present four, 3-day workshops in on the conservation and preservation of books and paper artifacts.

Scrapbooks valued for their artifactual, associational, and intellectual significance. Treatment can range from minimal to extensive.

Conservators perform book conservation work ranging from basic stabilization to extensive chemical, structural, and cosmetic treatment of both pages and bindings.

Conservation standards are employed and NEDCC uses materials that are stable and durable in all work. NEDCC performs conservation treatment for photographs, books, prints, documents, maps, and globes. NEDCC’s professional conservators also treat architectural plans, parchment, papyrus, wallpaper, and works of art on paper including charcoal drawings and watercolor paintings.

Last month I attended a two day workshop, Book Conservation Skills for Paper Conservators, at the National Library Scotland. The course aimed to teach paper conservators basic practical book conservation skills. It was led by our friend and colleague, Caroline Scharfenberg, who is an accredited, freelance book conservator based at the.
